Technics Keyboards & Pianos Technics is one of the world’s most famous names for electric keyboards, organs and pianos. (Nowadays, these electric instruments are often referred to as digital keyboards, digital and ). The Technics brand produces a wide range of models of keyboards and pianos, including their KN series of keyboards and PX series of pianos.
They are also well-known for a range of synthesisers they produced in the early days of electronic music. Technics is a brand that is part of the Panasonic Corporation.
Technics Style Conversions KN7000 Style Conversions. Then KN7000 was the top-of-the-line Technics keyboard and included some fantastic styles. Not all of these can be suitably converted to a PSR since many employ features in the Technics that are not available, in particular, a very strong section on vocals and on organ voices.
Originally the brand was used for a range of loudspeakers, though the company had produced an electric organ under a different brand in the early 1960s. Types of Technics Pianos and Keywords There are too many different models of piano, organ and keyboard produced by Technics, including:. Electric organs – originally based on a church organ, an electronic organ allows you to play a range of different sounds. Electronic keyboards – also known as digital keyboards, these are sometimes designed to plug into your computer for enhancing the sounds available. Digital pianos – designed to sound like a conventional piano (of the acoustic variety), these recreate the sound of a piano through electronic means.
Technics Piano and Keyboard Accessories. Piano stool – somewhere to sit while playing your keyboard. Often these will come with storage space under the seat where you can store sheet music and other items. Digital keyboard stand – rather than resting your keyboard on a table or desktop, you can purchase a that it will fit on. These are usually adjustable to fit a range of models.

Keyboard music stand – can hold the sheet music if you wish to play from the music itself. Keyboard pedals – allow for a range of different effects to be added to the notes you play, such as a sustain effect to hold the notes longer. Keyboard covers – protects your Technics keyboard when not in use. Keyboard bags – allows you to carry your keyboard or piano around with you.
Technics Style Conversions KN7000 Style Conversions Then KN7000 was the top-of-the-line Technics keyboard and included some fantastic styles. Not all of these can be suitably converted to a PSR since many employ features in the Technics that are not available, in particular, a very strong section on vocals and on organ voices. In addition the commercial conversion programs set all the tempos to 120 so the initial conversions don't sound at all like the original style. However, with some experimentation and revoicing, these styles can serve as the basis of some very nice styles for use on Yamaha PSR keyboards. I have tuned up a bunch on the PSR-2100 and added some one-touch settings. I was aided enormously by obtaining a list of the default tempos for these KN7000 styles.
I confess that I enhanced some styles by using panel voices for some of the accompaniment voices. If a style doesn't sound good on your keyboard, you may want to try running it through Michael Bedesem's MidiPlayer program, which can convert a style to one using voices on your particular keyboard. Joe's Conversions (with OTS) KN5000 Conversions for the Tyros4 (December, 2012) At the very bottom of this page, you will find a lot of KN5000 conversions without OTS. Some of these were converted years ago for use with the PSR-2000. Recently, I have been updating many of these styles to work with the newer Tyros4. These conversions all include OTS but, since they were developed on the T4, they are in the newer SFF2 format.
Most of them should work on the keyboards that use this new format (Tyros3, Tyros4, PSR-S910/S710/S950/S750). There are 60 styles in this first zip file. I've got another 30 or so to do and I'll add them in a second zip file whenever they get done. 60 styles; 996KB KN7000 Conversions for the Tyros4 (March, 2012) With the release of the PSR Tutorial Styles USB Drive, I had a chance to review some of the early Technics conversions I had done many years ago. I was reminded of how much I liked some of the KN7 styles.
So, after a very long break from style-tuning, I thought I would do some updates and tune some of these styles for my current Tyros4. These new updates, which, of course, are in the SFF2 format used by the Tyros4, are provided below. These should also play fine on the Tyros3 and the S910. I hope you enjoy these.

However, there are others who have been working on the KN7000 styles and they are sharing the results with you.
